February 26 – 28, 2011
Saturday, February 26, we will depart from Greenwood & travel to Hilton Head Island. This afternoon, our step-on guide will join us for a tour of the island. Late afternoon, our group will check into our oceanfront hotel. After a delicious dinner @ a local restaurant, this evening’s entertainment will be @ the ARTS CENTER of Coastal Carolina to see Alfred Hitchcock’s THE 39 STEPS. This is a whodunit Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of zany comedy & some good old-fashioned romance. (D) Sunday, Feb. 27, you will enjoy a buffet breakfast @ the hotel. This is a relaxing day with time to walk on the beach, enjoy the festivities and food booths as they prepare for the Marsh Tacky Horse race. (For most of their history, Marsh Tackies were the most common horse in the swampy and marshy Lowcountry region of coastal South Carolina. They were used for riding, pulling and anything else horsepower was needed for until the automobile became popular). “Meet and Greet” the horses and riders from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Races begin at 1 p.m. and may last until 3 p.m. After the race, we will go over to Harbour Town for shopping and to browse along the waterfront shops. We will meet @ the Crazy Crab for dinner. (B, D) Monday, Feb. 27, after a delicious buffet breakfast, we will stop @ the outlets for some shopping before leaving the Island. Return to Greenwood late afternoon. Gettysburg, Hershey, Lancaster & Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (History, Chocolate, Amish & “City of Brotherly Love”) June 27th – July 2nd June 27: We begin our journey, traveling north through North Carolina & into Virginia to overnight in Winchester with dinner & entertainment. (D) June 28: Later this morning, we arrive @ Gettysburg Visitor’s Center in Gettysburg where you will see a New Birth of Freedom Film and Cyclorama. After lunch, there will be the Guided Battlefield Tour and Guided Eisenhower Farm Tour. You will enjoy a Colonial Dinner followed by a Union Soldier Presentation. After the presentation, we will continue on to Lancaster, our home for the next three nights. (B, D) June 29: After breakfast, our guide will join us for a Hershey Chocolate Tour and a Dearden House Guided Tour. You will have a chocolate tasting at Chocolate World with lunch on you own. After lunch, we will have our Amish Farmlands Tour, stopping @ the Horses Mouth/Amish Quilt & Craft Shop and a Country Surprise. Tonight, dinner will be in an Amish home. (DCB, D) June 30: This morning, we will have a tour of the Pretzel Factory and Canning Company. Then there will be time to shop @ Kitchen Kettle Village. Stroll around the village and browse in the 42 shops & restaurants. This afternoon, we will return to the hotel with some time to relax before we leave for the performance of “Joseph”@ the Sight & Sound Millennium Theater. This energy packed production is great for all ages and is sure to stir your emotions for forgiveness. After the show, dinner will be a Miller’s Smorgasbord. (DCB, D) July 1: We say goodbye to Lancaster this morning and depart for Philadelphia to meet our tour guide. You will learn so much about the “City of Brotherly Love” on our 3 hour Historic Philadelphia Tour. After lunch, we begin our journey south, traveling to Fredericksburg, VA to overnight. (DCB, D) July 2: All too soon our journey is coming to an end. We travel home today sharing our adventures with each other & looking forward to the next tour. (CBD, L) Meals included: 3 Deluxe Cont.
