Saturday, February 26, we will depart from Greenwood, our destination is Hilton Head Island. This afternoon, our step-on guide will join us for a tour of the island. Late afternoon, our group will check into our oceanfront hotel. After a delicious dinner @ a local restaurant, this evening’s entertainment will be @ the ARTS CENTER of Coastal Carolina to see Alfred Hitchcock’s THE 39 STEPS. This is a whodunit Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of zany comedy & some good old-fashioned romance. (D) Sunday, Feb. 27, you will enjoy a buffet breakfast @ the hotel. This is a relaxing day with time to walk on the beach, enjoy the festivities and food booths as they prepare for the Marsh Tacky Horse race. (For most of their history, Marsh Tackies were the most common horses in the swampy and marshy Lowcountry region of coastal South Carolina. They were used for riding, pulling and anything else horsepower was needed for until the automobile became popular). “Meet and Greet” the horses and riders from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Races begin at 1 p.m. and may last until 3 p.m. After the race, we will go over to Harbour Town for shopping and to browse along the waterfront shops. We will meet @ the Crazy Crab for dinner. (B, D) Monday, Feb. 27, after a delicious buffet breakfast, we will stop @ the outlets for some shopping before leaving the Island. Return to Greenwood late afternoon. (B)

                                                         CAJUNS COUNTRY & NEW ORLEANS

April 17: This morning we board the motorcoach to travel to Louisiana to get acquainted with the Cajun history, music & food. Today will be a traveling day as we cross the states of Georgia & Alabama to overnight in Louisiana. (D) April 18: We continue to New Iberia. Shadows on the Teche is one of the oldest sugar cane and cotton plantations in Louisiana (sugar capital of the world). We will continue to Avery Island & Jungle Gardens. You will see thousands of camellias and azaleas. See the blue herons that come home from South America to nest over the swamp. Our next stop is the original and only Tabasco Factory. Dinner will be @ an original Cajun restaurant. Your might even learn some Cajun 2 step. (B, D)  April 19: A special day awaits you today as we tour the Atchafalya Basin Swamp. You will ride a swamp boat through cypress forest, see alligators & other wildlife. The swamp is beautiful & blooming this time of the year. We will go to the Jean Lafitte National Park Acadian Cultural Center and discover the story of the Acadian (Cajun) people who settled the prairies, bayous and marshes of southeast Louisiana. Tonight, you will be taken back to the early 1900’s with the old fashion authentic accordion music @ Martin Accordions. Sit back, relax & enjoy the Martin Family Band as they play Cajun music, Country music, Gospel & Zydeco. (B, D) April 20: We depart LaFayette and journey to New Orleans. Our step-on guide will join us for our city tour. After the tour, you will enjoy the Jazz Brunch Buffet @ the Court of 2 Sisters. This afternoon, shop & explore the French Quarters. (B, L) April 21: Today, we will visit the National World War II Museum. See Beyond All Boundaries, narrated by Tom Hanks, which tells the tale of the Greatest Generation’s journey from Pearl Harbor to America’s final victory in the words of the veterans themselves. Tour the museum, have lunch and enjoy The Victory Belles, a charming vocal trio who will take you on a nostalgic journey through World War II-era musical classics. This afternoon, we travel to Daphne, LA to overnight. (B, L) April 22: We continue our journey home today. (Meals: 5 B, 3 L, 2 D)

Today, we head for Hilton Head Island. After lunch, our step-on guide will join us @ the Hilton Head Island Welcome Center. We will learn all about the beautiful island. After the tour, we will check into our hotel. Dinner will be @ the Crazy Crab in Harbour Town. (D) Friday morning, after a Continental Breakfast, we will depart for Broad Creek Marina to board the boat for the short ride to Daufuskie Island. Daufuskie Island – one of Hilton Head’s barrier islands is a natural, unspoiled island paradise, only accessible by boat. Crossing Calibouge Sound, your adventure begins as you get an opportunity to see the area’s Atlantic Bottle Nose Dolphins. Step back in time as you set foot on the Island that offers a unique experience, culturally & visually with a touch of low-country, a touch of Gullah and an adventure like no other. You will enjoy a buffet lunch. We will spend the day with our guide exploring the island. Late afternoon, we will return to the hotel. The evening is free with dinner on your own.                                                                                June 6 – 9, 2011
Today, we journey up to the Outer Banks arriving in the late afternoon. After checking into our hotel for a 3 night stay, there will be time to relax & freshen–up before dinner at a popular seafood restaurant. Tonight, you will enjoy the award-winning outdoor drama performance of “The Lost Colony”. (D) Day 2: Our guide will join us and head to Roanoke Island Festival Park. Here you will see the Elizabeth II, a 69-foot sailing vessel replica of those sailed to the new World in 1585. Also, we will visit the Roanoke Island Adventure Museum and Settlement Site where you can see what life was like for those early explorers as they arrived on Roanoke Island. Lunch will be “on your own” with shopping/strolling the waterfront in Downtown Manteo. Next is the Wright Brothers National Memorial, where on a cold day in December, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright changed the world as their powered airplane, the Wright Flyer, skimmed over the sands of the Outer Banks for 12 seconds. See the new museum which still has exhibits from the First Flight Centennial Celebration and hear a Park representative give a fascinating account of the Wrights. Dinner will be @ a local restaurant. (CB, D) Day 3: Today, you will see the Bodie Island Lighthouse, first lit October 1872, and learn a geology lesson too! We continue our drive through Oregon Inlet & through Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest brick beacon on the American coast, standing at 208 feet high. Learn the marvelous history, which includes its half-mile move in 2000
away from the sea. You will explore the nation’s only Museum dedicated exclusively to shipwrecks – Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. We board the ferry and enjoy a 40-minute ferry ride to historic Ocracoke Island. This is where the famous pirate, Blackbeard, was beheaded by a British naval captain in 1718. This afternoon, you will see & hear the intriguing story behind the famous Banker Ponies. Nestled along Silver Lake, Ocracoke Lighthouse is the oldest operating lighthouse in the Carolinas & the 2nd oldest in the nation. We explore Silver Lake and tour the attractions at the southern tip of historic Ocracoke. We take the Hatteras Ferry back and go back to the hotel. Dinner is included this evening. We begin our journey, traveling north through North Carolina & into Virginia to overnight in Winchester with dinner & entertainment. (D) June 28: Later this morning, we arrive @ Gettysburg Visitor’s Center in Gettysburg where you will see a New Birth of Freedom Film and Cyclorama. After lunch, there will be the Guided Battlefield Tour and Guided Eisenhower Farm Tour. You will enjoy a Colonial Dinner followed by a Union Soldier Presentation. After the presentation, we will continue on to Lancaster, our home for the next three nights. (B, D) June 29: After breakfast, our guide will join us for a Hershey Chocolate Tour and a Dearden House Guided Tour. You will have a chocolate tasting at Chocolate World with lunch on your own. After lunch, we will have our Amish Farmlands Tour, stopping @ the Horses Mouth/Amish Quilt & Craft Shop and a Country Surprise. Tonight, dinner will be in an Amish home. (DCB, D) June 3: This morning, we will have atour of the Pretzel Factory and Canning Company. Then there will be time to shop @ Kitchen Kettle Village and browse in the 42 shops & restaurants. This afternoon, we will return to the hotel with some time to relax before we leave for the performance of “Joseph”@ the Sight & Sound Millennium Theater. This energy packed production is great for all ages and is sure to stir your emotions for forgiveness. After the show, dinner will be a Miller’s Smorgasbord. Learn so much about the “City of Brotherly Love” on our 3 hour Historic Philadelphia Tour. After lunch, we begin our journey south, traveling to Fredericksburg, VA to overnight.                                                   NEW MEXICO AND THE ALBUQUERQUE BALLOON FIESTA
                                                                            October 2 - 9, 2011
Oct. 2: Our journey begins as we travel through Georgia, Alabama & Mississippi toward the Land of Enchantment. There will be a stop in Tupelo, Mississippi to visit Elvis Pressley’s Birthplace & Museum. (D) Oct. 3: We will continue west through Tennessee and stop to explore Fort Smith, Arkansas. We overnight in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. (CB, D)Oct. 4: We continue on I-40 and stop at Route 66 Museum in Elk City, Oklahoma. The tour will guide you through six decades of Route 66 history. Bienvenidos or welcome to the Land of Enchantment. We arrive @ Albuquerque – the Duke City & check into our hotel for the next 3 night. Dinner will be at a local favorite restaurant. (CB, D) Oct. 5: We leave the hotel bright & early with our guide to see the Flight of the Nations Mass Ascension at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Watch as upwards of 500 balloons lift off from Balloon Fiesta Park to drift in the crisp high-desert air of New Mexico. Ballooning enthusiasts from around the world visit each year to delight in the amazing range of balloons in every color, size, and shape imaginable. The thermal currents above Albuquerque make for some of the finest ballooning conditions in the world. The famous “Albuquerque Box” effect enables pilots to ascend from the field, move with the air currents at different altitudes and in different directions, and even backtracks along their original course to land in the spot they took off. Enjoy exploring the grounds of Fiesta Park and chatting with the pilots and crews as they prepare the balloons for flight. We continue on a driving tour of Route 66 landmarks. The first stop in Old Town is Turquoise Museum, perhaps the largest private collection in the world. Lunch will be @ a local favorite in Old Town. Next, take a brief walking tour of the historic Plaza area of Old Town, the original center of Albuquerque, which was founded in the early part of the 18th century and included Sal Felipe de Neri church. Enjoy a visit to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The Center is committed to educating all generations of visitors and is your gateway to the lifeways and culture of the indigenous inhabitants of New Mexico. The remainder of the day is free. (B, L) Oct. 6: We travel north along the scenic and historic Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway that links Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Drive back into history through the mining towns of Golden, Madrid and Cerrillos, whose mines once yielded gold, silver, lead, zinc and turquoise. There will be an optional guided walking tour in Santa Fe, visiting such points of interest as the historic Plaza, St. Francis Cathedral, the Loretto Chapel, with its famous “miraculous” staircase, and the San Miguel Mission. We return to Balloon Fiesta Park for the spectacle of the evening Glowdeo. Enjoy dinner on the field before the event begins. During the glow, balloons inflate at dusk, remain tethered and light their burners in a synchronized fashion. Tonight, the AfterGlow Fireworks Show will dazzle and delight you. (B) Oct. 7: Hasta la vista and adios amigos to Albuquerque & head east. Our visit today @ the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center and Museum in Amarillo, Texas features many hands-on and interactive exhibits, video presentations, artifacts, and live demonstrations on the history and significance of this American breed. We overnight in Oklahoma City. (B, D) Oct. 8: We continue toward home with a mystery stop along the way.
